The History of Nezha /

Nezha, a key figure in Chinese mythology, dates back over 1,600 years, first recorded in the Jin Dynasty (266–420 AD). He is revered in Taoism and Buddhism as a warrior deity, symbolizing courage, defiance, and protection.

His story is most famously told in the 16th-century novel Fengshen Yanyi (Investiture of the Gods). Born after a three-year pregnancy, Nezha emerged as a powerful child. He famously clashed with Ao Bing, the Dragon King's son, leading to his self-sacrifice to save his village. Later, his master Taiyi Zhenren resurrected him with a lotus body.

Nezha is worshipped as the “Third Lotus Prince,” a guardian of children and warriors. Temples across China honor him, and he remains a cultural icon. His legend inspired the hit 2019 animated film Ne Zha, which reimagined his origin for modern audiences.
